Some remarks on the weak maximizing property

چکیده

A pair of Banach spaces (E,F) is said to have the weak maximizing property (WMP, for short) if every bounded linear operator T from E into F, existence a non-weakly null sequence implies that attains its norm. This was recently introduced in paper by R. Aron, D. García, Pelegrino and E. Teixeira, raising several open questions. The aim present contribute better knowledge WMP limitations. Namely, we provide sufficient conditions fail study behavior this with respect quotients, subspaces, direct sums, which gate consequences. For instance, deal pairs form (Lp[0,1],Lq[0,1]), proving these whenever p>2 or q<2. We also show that, under certain on E, assumption has space F must be finite dimensional. On other hand, reflexive only Schur property. give complete characterization (ℓs⊕pℓp,ℓs⊕qℓq) calculating moduli asymptotic uniform convexity ℓs⊕pℓp smoothness ℓs⊕qℓq when 1<p⩽s⩽q<∞. conclude discussing some variants presenting list problems topic paper.

Some Remarks on the Dunford-pettis Property

Let A be the disk algebra, Ω be a compact Hausdorff space and μ be a Borel measure on Ω. It is shown that the dual of C(Ω, A) has the Dunford-Pettis property. This proved in particular that the spaces L(μ,L/H 0 ) and C(Ω, A) have the Dunford-Pettis property.

Some remarks on the arithmetic-geometric index

Using an identity for effective resistances, we find a relationship between the arithmetic-geometric index and the global ciclicity index. Also, with the help of majorization, we find tight upper and lower bounds for the arithmetic-geometric index.

Some preliminary remarks on a ‘ weak ’ theory of linearization

One traditional research topic in syntax is the question of linearization of hierarchical structures. Extensive research stemming from the seminal work by Noam Chomsky in the fifties has shown that natural languages have a hierarchical organization, but, since utterances take place in time and not instantaneously, hierarchical structures must be mapped in a linear sequence of words. Linearizati...

Remarks on the finite derived set property

The finite derived set property asserts that any infinite subset of a space has an infinite subset with only finitely many accumulation points. Among other things, we study this property in the case of a function space with the topology of pointwise convergence. 2000 AMS Classification: 54A25, 54A35, 54D55.

Some Remarks on Roeper’s Remarks on Chomsky’s ‘Remarks’

In his 1970 paper ‘Remarks on nominalization’, Noam Chomsky provided several arguments for the lexicalist hypothesis, namely the idea that nouns like refusal, rejection, growth, and so on are nouns throughout the entire syntactic derivation. Tom Roeper’s paper ‘Chomsky’s Remarks and the transformationalist hypothesis’ challenges the lexicalist hypothesis, arguing that such nouns are syntactical...
